Security Engineer

Senior Security Engineer | 12 month Contract | Rural Missouri | $70-$80p/h

We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise security controls across network, cloud, identity, and endpoint environments. This role requires strong technical depth, sound risk judgment, and the ability to work across infrastructure, engineering, and operations teams to protect critical systems and data.

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security controls across network, cloud, and identity platforms, including firewalls, segmentation, and access controls
• Secure and operate identity and access management systems, ensuring least-privilege access, strong authentication, and proper account lifecycle governance
• Monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents, including phishing, email abuse, and system compromise, performing root cause analysis and remediation
• Operate and improve security monitoring, vulnerability management, and alerting capabilities, coordinating remediation efforts across teams
• Develop, document, and maintain security procedures, incident response runbooks, and operational standards
• Assess security risks, recommend mitigations, and contribute to security architecture and roadmap decisions
• Provide guidance on patching priorities, emerging threats, and security best practices

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering or security operations

• 7+ years of experience securing enterprise environments
• Strong experience with network security, cloud platforms, identity and access management, and incident response
• Familiarity with vulnerability management tools, security monitoring platforms, and automation
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, PCI, and HIPAA
• Proficiency in scripting or automation (Power Shell, Python)
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills
