Job Description and Duties

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) could be the place for you! DPR is seeking an energetic and motivated Information Technology Specialist I for our Information Technology Branch team.

The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) is responsible for the configuration, development, administration, and maintenance of the department’s Service Now platform. The incumbent will utilize Service Now software development methodologies and best practices to conduct requirements analysis and system design while providing continued operation support for Service Now. The incumbent is responsible to develop and modify Service Now catalog items, flows, forms, workspace, lists, custom scripts, business rules, UI components.

Work with functional and admin teams to deliver automated workflow solutions in Service Now. Collaborate with Service Now admins across the Agency to align initiatives and platform standards. Engage with internal stakeholders and IT staff to understand business requirements and translate it into functional specification. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, configurations, workflows, solutions and ensure that best practices and ITIL frameworks are followed.

Work across the IT Branch to improve the platform adoption and user experience of Service Now. Prepare and conduct training sessions for users on newly developed catalog items. Stay informed of industry trends and new platform enhancements.

Working Conditions

• Performance of these duties requires the use of computers, infrastructure hardware, networks, databases, electronic mail (both internal and external), voicemail, and the Internet.
• May occasionally work evening or weekend hours in response to system outages/recovery, maintenance, or upgrade activities.
• Occasional statewide travel on short notice may be required to support regional office locations. Travel may require overnight stays, driving, and flying.
• Performance of the duties indicated for this position occasionally require the ability to lift and transport equipment up to 50lbs.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
