Position OverviewThe Salesforce Architect is a brand‑new role charged with designing and building a Grant Management Solution to support a new Caltrans program and process:
Customer Success for grantees. The Architect will modernize how the Department of Transportation manages grant investments in local projects, supporting 250+ public transit agencies across California.
- Act as a technical lead and solution architect, defining, designing, developing, documenting, coordinating, and integrating solutions within the Division.
- Architect and manage Caltrans’ grant‑making and grant administration lifecycle, CRM architecture, customer success workflows, and case management solutions within Salesforce.
- Provide leadership in developing the Grants Management System, overseeing development or procurement activities, communicating the work to internal and external audiences, and facilitating solution launches.
- Perform architecture, development, integration, operation, and maintenance of Salesforce implementations, including user research, user‑centric design, configuration or development, testing, and implementation.
- Ensure seamless integration with enterprise middleware solutions such as Mule Soft, API gateways, and other integration frameworks, leveraging RESTful APIs, SOAP, and event‑driven architecture.
- One year of experience as an Information Technology Specialist II; or Six years of information technology experience, two years of which include performance of highly specialized work in a lead or expert capacity on highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging IT field.
- A master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for four years of the required general information technology experience.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for three years of the required general information technology experience.
- An associate’s degree from an accredited college may substitute for one year of the required general information technology experience.
- When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related coursework.
- Experience designing and implementing CRM, Grants, or large‑scale enterprise Salesforce solutions.
- Proficiency in Salesforce platforms (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.) and deep understanding of Salesforce architecture and data modeling.
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect and other relevant certifications.
- Experience with project management methodologies, standards, tools, change and release management processes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues and mentor junior level development teams.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, business leaders, vendor contract resources, and end‑users.
