Under the general direction of the IT Contracts and Procurement Section Manager I, the IT Supervisor II (IT Sup II) is responsible for managing and directing the day‑to‑day activities, operations, initiatives, and IT acquisitions of the IT Purchasing team including complex and major information technology hardware, software, systems, services, and supplies through lease, rental or purchase within the Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) delegated purchasing authority.
This position will directly manage various procurement specialists and administrative support staff. The IT Sup II provides a wide variety of representative, consultative, and analytical support relative to various administrative and technical support activities including planning, budgeting, acquisition, personnel management, and program evaluation. Participates in and successfully completes ongoing training associated with post‑award activities.
The IT Sup II’s objectives are to ensure the successful acquisition of DOJ IT procurements, purchases, and contracts, through the development and implementation of enterprise‑wide standardized contract and procurement policies, standards, practices, processes, and reporting procedures through the various procurement and contract lifecycle phases (initiation, planning, execution, management, review and acceptance, and/or contract close‑out). The IT Sup II will provide leadership, motivation, coaching, remove roadblocks, and inspire the team to do their best work.

- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPERVISOR II
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge and experience with the fundamentals of human resource management specific to CA state government.
- Complex IT and Non‑IT Procurement and Contract experience.
- Ability to develop/identify innovation solutions to critical business problems, and to effectively apply standard best practices and principles of systematic problem solving.
- Knowledge of IT and Non‑IT procurement and contracting polices and guidelines such as Government Codes and Regulations, Public Contract Codes, State Administrative Manual, State Contracting Manual, State Information Management Manual, Technology Letters, Purchase Authority Manual, Management memos, Executive Orders.
- Broad knowledge of the policy and procurement process for control agencies, and constitutional offices such as the DOJ.
- Knowledge of the structure, organization, and function of a variety of technology disciplines, as well as data centers and IT contracting programs.
- Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities, plan and project workload to meet high‑volume productivity demands.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise business/technical documentation (e.g., writing policies, procedures, standards, documentation, concept papers, executive summaries, statements of work, operational manuals, etc.).
- Possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to partner with various business customers.
- California Department of Technology Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) experience.
- Knowledge of personal computer and software and hardware.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate on behalf of the DOJ.
