The OpportunityOur client is seeking a Director of IT to lead their IT function as they scale from 800 to 1,500 employees. This role is a unique opportunity to own IT at the intersection of healthcare and technology, ensuring HIPAA compliance and clinical readiness while building a modern, scalable, Microsoft-driven infrastructure.
What you’ll do- IT strategy and operations across a fast-scaling environment, with ownership of Microsoft 365, Azure, and Active Directory.
- Manage the IT end user support function. Design and manage a scalable ticketing system (Zendesk or equivalent), implementing automation, auto-routing, and reporting for efficiency.
- Develop IT policies and processes to meet HIPAA requirements, including annual Security Risk Assessments (SRA) and remediation of high-risk findings.
- Oversee quarterly User Access Reviews (UARs), provisioning workflows, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Partner with clinical teams and leadership to ensure IT systems are compliant and support physician workflows.
- Manage vulnerability detection and incident response processes.
- Track and enforce SLAs for new user setup, provisioning, and IT service delivery.
- Drive procurement strategy for IT hardware and software, ensuring cost-effective, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with the Senior IT Manager in India to ensure strong global IT coverage.
- Provide clear metrics and KPI dashboards to measure IT system performance, ticket resolution, and compliance.
- 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience (Manager level or above) including experience building and scaling IT organizations from ~1,000 to ~5,000+ employees with 25–30+ IT staff
- Proven ownership of multi-site corporate and clinic network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi, VPN/SD-WAN, firewalls), ideally in healthcare or other regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success designing and enforcing IT operating models at scale, including ITSM (Zendesk/Service Now), SLAs, KPIs, automation, and documentation.
- Strong experience in HIPAA-regulated environments, including security risk assessments, access governance, incident response, and audit readiness.
- Deep familiarity with Microsoft-based IT ecosystems (Azure AD / Entra , Microsoft 365, Intune or equivalent endpoint management).
- Experience working alongside clinical staff (e.g., physicians, care teams) in IT system design or support.
- Background in IT procurement and vendor management.
- Experience implementing IT automations (provisioning, access reviews, onboarding).
- Pragmatic, business-oriented leader who can balance compliance with scalability.
- Based in Los Angeles (preferred) or remote within the U.S.
