Position: Benefits Coordinator (Benefits Administration)
Location: California

Benefits Specialist at New Gen Administrative Services

Salary Range: $28-35 per hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures and coordinating with Benefits Manager, Benefits Advocates, brokers, or other external sources.
  • Assists with open enrollment and answers any questions regarding benefits.
  • Clearly and accurately articulates benefit‑related information both verbally and in written form to employees.
  • Serves as a liaison between benefit carriers and employees.
  • Assists with planning, implementation, and administration of benefits programs.
  • Collaborates on the preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs, such as insurance and retirement plans, paid time off, and special employer‑sponsored activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and confidential employee information.
  • Maintains employee information in the system and completes updates as needed.
  • Works with TPA’s and other vendors on benefit data and administration as needed by contracts.
  • Maintains benefits records and documents necessary for implementing benefits coverage, including periodic audits of data and coverage.
  • Acts as a liaison for employee claims, issues and provides resolution; coordinates enrollment, maintenance, follow‑up and reporting on Short‑Term Disability, Long‑Term Disability, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Assists in the preparation of employee benefits booklets and other employee benefits communications.
  • Maintains benefit records by developing record‑keeping systems; initiates new‑hire benefits; records and tracks changes.
  • Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefit providers.
  • Reconciles benefits accounts and approves billing statements.
  • Participates in adhoc projects.
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience with Corporate Health and Welfare benefit programs.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in HRIS systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and goal oriented.
  • Self‑starter able to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities; ability to multi‑task and be proactive in a fast‑paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads.
Preferred
  • Experience with retirement plans including 401(k) (multiple employer plan) and non‑qualified deferred compensation plans.
  • Experience reconciling benefit deductions and billings with employee deductions and contributions; including setup and configuration of HRIS systems.
  • Dedication to continuous process improvement utilizing automation and ERP systems.
  • Successful record of building and improving operational processes and procedures; ability to drive program efficiency and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of benefit contract language and all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements as related to benefits administration.
