WE ARE HIRING: HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT I
The Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino, is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Human Resources Assistant I to join our HR team. This role supports key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, records management, and front desk reception. NEOGOV experience is preferred but not required, and we welcome candidates committed to learning and public service. Key responsibilities include serving as the first point of contact for the HR office, supporting onboarding by preparing new-hire materials and coordinating Live Scan appointments, and providing administrative support, including preparing correspondence, updating databases, coordinating calendars, and managing office supplies.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under immediate (Human Resources Assistant I) to general (Human Resources Assistant II) supervision, performs a variety of confidential administrative clerical support functions in support of the Court’s Human Resources Department; staffs the front desk reception area; performs data entry and the tracking of a variety of programs; assists with the recruitment and selection process including proctoring employment testing and exams; responds to inquiries and requests from employees, vendors, and the general public;
performs a variety of recordkeeping and administrative clerical support; and performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate (Human Resources Assistant I) to general (Human Resources Assistant II) supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Human Resources Assistant I:
This is the entry-level classification in the Human Resources Assistant series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform routine confidential administrative clerical support for the Court’s Human Resources Department while learning Court policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates the skill to perform the work independently.
Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the Human Resources Assistant II level but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern.

:
This is the journey-level classification in the Human Resources Assistant series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Human Resources Assistant I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
