Breakthrough is seeking a hands-on Senior Director of Human Resources to join our team. This role will develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy in support of the business plan and strategic direction of a fast-paced growing real estate company. Oversight includes Talent Acquisition, Employee Retention, Employee Relations, Training and Development, HRIS, Payroll, Benefits and related HR Compliance topics. This is both a strategic and tactical role: while leading the HR function at a high level, the Senior Director will also manage day-to-day responsibilities as needed.
The ideal candidate will serve as a cultural steward and role model, embodying Breakthrough’s core values. This role will be based in Los Angeles, CA, and reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and/or Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities- Cultural Leadership and Employee Relations
- Understands the company mission and performs all duties in line with corporate values.
- Provide focused, business-minded HR leadership to the business and translate business vision and strategy into an executable people strategy.
- Leads by example through tactful communication with an eye toward productive solutions.
- Sets a positive tone for employee communications and serves as a resource for employee relations throughout the organization.
- Address concerns and questions from employees.
- HR Oversight, and Benefits Management
- Develop human resources operational plans and financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances.
- Oversee in-house payroll and benefits functions, maintain the HRIS system, and manage the relationship with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) outside the US (Atlas or other PEO, if applicable).
- Conduct annual reviews of the employee benefits program, make recommendations, and facilitate open enrollment.
- Compliance and Records Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Communicate changes in personnel policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance is followed.
- Develop policies across multiple office locations and geographies, both within the US and abroad.
- Ensure employment compliance and employment laws are met and monitored; work with legal teams as needed for related matters.
- Employee Lifecycle Support
- Oversee the team to manage recruitment pipeline and provide excellent experience with all other employment lifecycle-related support (onboarding, offboarding, parental leave, etc.).
- Lead and contribute to long-term talent development, retention, and succession planning.
- Coach and mentor employees and managers; provide motivation and growth opportunities for engagement and performance.
- Performance Management
- Support and collaborate with leadership by providing HR direction, advice, and counsel regarding employee growth and management.
- Facilitate performance reviews that align company values and business objectives with employee goals.
- Recommend and implement procedures to manage turnover.
- Consult with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.
- Learning and Development
- Identify, assess, and develop training needs across the organization.
- Oversee the training of individuals or groups of employees.
- Coordinate management training in interviewing, selection, terminations, promotions, performance management, and employee relations training.
