This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in payroll processing, human resources, and compliance
, preferably in long-term care or healthcare

The Payroll & HR Specialist is responsible for overseeing facility payroll, human resources, and benefits operations in accordance with company policies and all applicable federal and state laws. This role supports the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, benefits coordination, and compliance
.
- Prepare, process, and reconcile semi-monthly payroll for 50-110+ employees
- Manage timekeeping, payroll edits, shift differentials, overtime, and employee status changes
- Ensure payroll accuracy, validate reports, and complete pay period close activities
- Maintain personnel files ensuring audit and regulatory compliance
- Track and verify licenses, certifications, TB, and Hepatitis B records
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee and payroll records
- Coordinate recruiting, prescreening, interviews, hiring, onboarding, and orientation
- Process employee status changes, disciplinary actions, terminations, and documentation
- Partner with leadership on staffing needs and employee relations matters
- Coordinate benefits enrollment and communicate benefits policies and updates
- Ensure compliance with Department of Labor / Wage & Hour regulations
- Participate in unemployment hearings as needed
- Assist Employee Appreciation and Recognition Programs
- Act on behalf of the HR Manager when needed
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of payroll experience required
- Experience in human resources and healthcare or long-term care preferred
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/timekeeping systems
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting and best practices
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Must be local to the St. Louis area
