As the CA HR Compliance Specialist supporting our Bridgestone Retail Operations across California, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring employment practices align with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws across our California operations. You will coordinate compliance initiatives, conduct internal audits, assist in policy development, conduct trainings, analyze trends, and support business practices to maintain our culture of fairness, transparency, and integrity.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the teammate experience, support operational excellence, and help drive our mission to Serve Society with Superior Quality. This is an individual contributor role and the teammate in this role is required to live within the geographic region they are supporting and will work remotely with travel as needed to retail stores, regional offices and meetings.

Expected salary range of $105-115k. Pay Range: $78,000.00 - $

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations across California.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR files, onboarding documentation, timekeeping practices, CA operations practice, and record retention procedures to ensure legal and internal policy compliance.
  • Support the drafting, updating, and implementation of HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance programs.
  • Maintain required employee notices, records, and reports to meet jurisdictional requirements.
  • Partner with Divisional HR team and Legal team to manage compliance inquiries, investigations, and remediation actions.
  • Partner with Divisional HR team and Legal team to ensure compliance with local CBA. Assist with union negotiation, other union relation items, when applicable.
  • Coordinate annual and ad‑hoc compliance training for managers and employees (e.g., harassment prevention, wage & hour compliance, data privacy, etc.).
  • Track regulatory updates, summarize legislative changes, and communicate their impact to HR and business leadership.
  • Assist with the preparation of government filings and reports (e.g., EEO, OSHA, Pay Transparency, etc.).
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive HR and employee relations matters.
  • Support and/or complete all other HR compliance‑related tasks and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive California HR experience with a strong focus on compliance, auditing, or employee relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and California state employment law (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, wage & hour, pay transparency, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
