Overview
Part-time Hospitality Associate. Robert Young Estate Winery is a luxury, family-owned estate in Alexander Valley, located 15 minutes from Healdsburg, CA. This is a Part-Time Hourly position (10:00am to 5:30pm), reporting to the Hospitality Tasting Room Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager, and Tasting Room Lead. The role requires strong communication, pride in customer service, and an understanding of luxury hospitality.
The Young family has farmed their 448-acre ranch in Alexander Valley for over 165 years, passed down through six generations since 1858. Robert Young Vineyards is a major family-owned grower of premium grapes in Alexander Valley. The winery is known for big, lush Chardonnays, bold Cabernets, and complex Bordeaux blends sourced from the estate. We produce about 6,000 cases per year, sold directly to consumers, with small-lot wines available to members and visitors.

- Provide memorable experiences for guests with approachable wine/vineyard education, personable retelling of the family history, and gracious hospitality.
- Sell and close sales; the role includes a strong commission structure.
- Use POS systems to process orders and review reservations.
- Deliver exceptional, luxury customer service.
- Engage customers to evaluate their needs and expectations; recognize that each guest is different.
- Suggest local hotels, restaurants, and wineries for out-of-town Members to enhance their visit.
- Keep the tasting room organized, clean, and well presented for guests.
- Fulfill orders for pickups and shipping.
- Assist the General Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager, Hospitality Tasting Room Manager, Events Manager, and Wine Club Manager with duties as required in downtime.
- Promote teamwork and a positive, fun working environment.
- Experience in hospitality and customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to sell and complete guest experiences promptly.
- Basic understanding of wines and viticulture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a positive outlook.
- Organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic and personal accountability.
- Ability to use POS systems (preferably Wine Direct and/or Commerce7) and Tock for reservations.
- Training will be provided for these systems; past experience or the ability to learn quickly is preferred.
- Over 21 years old.
- Previous experience in a hospitality service role in wine, restaurant, sales, or hotel industries required.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, and telephone skills.
- Polite, positive, hard-working with a can-do attitude and good sense of humor; fits well with a small, professional team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with comfortable use of computer applications such as Wine Direct POS, Tock, and reservation platforms (training provided).
- Ability to perform tasting room support functions (glassware, restocking, bussing tables, etc.).
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and be flexible with schedule.
- Available to work at events (membership, corporate, offsite tastings).
- Professional appearance and demeanor; commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Follow daily operating procedures, open/closing protocols, and safety guidelines.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Base hourly: $19-21/hr, not including sales commission, tips, and wine club signup bonuses. Expected average hourly on an annual basis: $30-40/hr.
