Location: California

Role Summary

This field-based role requires residing within reasonable distance of the primary city. The Specialty Representative will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance. All activities should place the patient at the center and comply with Abb Vie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

The role covers CA:
Los Angeles, Torrance, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Long Beach, and surrounding areas, and HI: O’ahu.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and drive actions to close sales calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics, optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gain and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field or relevant equivalent industry experience. If no degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Required:

    Proven track record in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and deliver innovative ideas to maximize opportunities; demonstrate impact and respond to changes.
  • Required:

    Influences others, is a credible resource, builds collaborative partnerships, and leads by example in dynamic environments.
  • Required:

    Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred:
    Proven sales performance in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing;
    English proficiency in both speech and writing (for non-English-speaking regions).
  • Required:

    Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required:

    Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle.
  • Required:

    Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment.

Education
