Overview

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital costs.

We are seeking a Health and Safety Technician to join our team at our Calcasieu Pass Facility. This role reports to the Venture Global LNG Health & Safety Manager and will establish and maintain a field-focused approach to ensure Health & Safety fundamentals are utilized in daily operations. The Health & Safety Technician serves as the immediate field contact for all Health & Safety related questions, concerns or activities.

This position is located in Cameron, LA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee, implement, and manage Venture Global LNG’s safety policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and requirements.
  • Continuously inspect, observe, and audit work tasks against defined company procedures, policies, and working conditions.
  • Serve as the field focal point for all Health & Safety related questions, concerns, activities, and needs.
  • Spend extended periods of time in the field; walk the assigned areas and ascend stairs/ladders as needed to reach elevated work areas.
  • Ensure hazard assessments and permitting requirements are being followed.
  • Engage workers in the field performing tasks unsafely and mentor them in correct safety measures and practices; use a mentoring or educational approach with all personnel.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments to support Health & Safety management of the facility.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure safe work techniques and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Multi-task effectively and enforce a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe practices.
  • Control unsafe conditions, hazards, and scenes when possible.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, observations, and audits to address unsafe acts and conditions promptly.
  • Perform facility audits, observations, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental, safety, and occupational hazards; develop recommendations for improvements.
  • Inform HSSE leadership about inspection results, deficiencies, and mitigation measures.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or events immediately to Shift Supervision and the Health and Safety Manager; assist in investigations as needed.
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Assist and support Emergency Response processes for the site.
  • Inspect, control, and enforce effective housekeeping standards.
  • Participate as a member of the Site Safety Committee.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School education or equivalent required. Degree and/or certification in Health & Safety Sciences or related field strongly preferred.
  • Specific experience with Health & Safety in Commissioning and Startup activities.
  • Fully understand and experience with Permit to Work processes and systems; ability to audit and mentor valid discrepancies and provide safe resolution paths.
  • Strong leadership skills with five or more years in a Health & Safety Technician role.
  • Five or more years’ experience in Health and Safety Technician or Specialist roles; LNG, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Completion of OSHA general industry (29 CFR 1910) and/or construction (29 CFR 1926) training.
  • Knowledge/experience in Occupational Health and Safety related to hazard recognition, safety inspections/audits for permit to work, hazardous energy isolation, hot work, confined space entry, elevated work/fall protection, housekeeping, and crane hoisting and rigging.
