Overview

Healthcare Executive Placements, Inc. (HCEPInc) is seeking a Vascular Interventional Technologist for a W2 Contract position based in San Rafael, California.

Schedule: Part time, 32 hours, M - F, off on Wednesday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks with high likelihood of extending

Hourly Rate: This position offers an hourly rate between $63.00 to $68.00 which equates to $2,520 to $2,720 per week (based on a 40-hour workweek).

Summary: The Vascular Interventional Technologist provides advanced imaging and technical expertise to support diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular and interventional procedures. This role is responsible for operating specialized fluoroscopy equipment, assisting physicians during complex interventions, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care. The technologist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment, particularly within intensive cardiovascular specialties.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for vascular and interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring appropriate positioning, sterile technique, and safety measures.
  • Operates fluoroscopy and related imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic and procedural images.
  • Assists physicians during minimally invasive vascular and cardiovascular procedures, including device preparation, catheterization, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Monitors patient status throughout procedures, responding quickly and effectively to emergent situations.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to ensure seamless procedural workflow and patient-centered care.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital policies, state licensure requirements, and accreditation standards, including radiation safety.
  • Accurately documents patient information, procedure details, and supply usage in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, radiation safety programs, and continuing education to support departmental excellence.
  • Oversees inventory, ensures availability of required supplies, and supports equipment calibration and readiness.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and post-care instructions.
Qualifications
  • Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience in an intensive cardiovascular specialty within a hospital setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, sterile technique, hemodynamic monitoring, and interventional imaging protocols.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment, responding rapidly to procedural and patient emergencies.
