Role on the Team

Applies acquired skills, process, and policy knowledge to support professional health education program learners. Coordinates program operations, including teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. Under the supervision of the Department Administrator/Education Manager, the Medical Education Coordinator provides oversight, administration, and support of medical education clerkships, ACGME and/or non-ACGME programs for Residents, Fellows, Medical Students, and Research Fellows in the Department of Plastic Surgery.

Serves as Education Team member and oversees all non-ACGME-accredited programs by ensuring annual requirements are met and educational activities support the curriculum. Performs administrative support for unit and administration teams. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed Resident/Fellow expectations. Develops, monitors, and updates processes to improve task efficiency by standardizing formats for routine correspondence and identifying areas for improved efficiency.

Prepares a variety of documentation associated with program operations; distributes documentation or retains records as appropriate. Serves as Residency/Fellowship program liaison with the GME office and other agencies, organizations, and groups.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required: Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements; basic knowledge of the health professions education industry; basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research; developing and implementing processes and systems; familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program; communication skills (verbal, written, and active listening); service orientation and responsiveness; ability to interact professionally and courteously; demonstrated interpersonal skills;

ability to develop working relationships within the department and with learners; excellent organizational, analytical, and attention to detail skills; ability to manage extremely complex faculty calendars/schedules with precision; knowledge of educational technology and systems; ability to troubleshoot and triage related technology issues; investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills; ability to generate computer reports, check for errors, correct, and submit accurate reports;

skills in entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems; and a Bachelor s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred: Knowledge of University Medical Education processes; knowledge of University Graduate Medical Education processes.
