This position will work as an Orthopedic provider on-site during weekday hours for the Children’s Mercy Orthopedic Injury Clinic locations. APRNs will earn an $8 hourly differential for your flexibility and expertise across multiple locations. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic provides rapid, convenient access for children and adolescents with minor musculoskeletal injuries. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic Physician Assistant performs a problem‑specific health assessment with a major focus on injuries such as fractures, muscle and ligament sprains/strains, minor dislocations, and sports‑related injuries.
Treatment pathways employed in this role include casting, splinting, bracing, and referral to rehabilitative services as well as follow‑up care for the injury as needed. This Physician Assistant will be expected to work collaboratively with the Orthopedic physician providers when consultation is needed, including surgical referral. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN‑II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence‑based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN‑II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced‑based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.
- Clinical Practice: proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
- Professional Leadership: advances the practice of nursing by inspiring others to positively impact the care of children and families in our community.
- Evidenced-based Practice/QI/Research Inquiry: improves patient/family outcomes by utilizing evidence to translate science to practice.
- Organizational Development: influences organizational policy in order to achieve and sustain practice improvements and strategic initiatives.
- Master’s Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case‑by‑case basis within preferred specialty. or
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) – preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience. Exceptions considered on a case‑by‑case basis within preferred specialty.
- Licensed RN – Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- Licensed RN – MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
