San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is accepting applications for Ambulance Operator (AO) - Paramedics, who provide basic and advanced medical care to the ill and injured, provide patient transport services, and may operate an ambulance responding to emergency medical aid calls. Multiple vacancies exist throughout the County.

QUALIFICATIONS
Note:
California Paramedic Licenses and NRP Certifications must be current and in good standing. If a copy of your CA Paramedic License or NRP is not attached, your application will not move forward in the process.
- Health and Physical Condition:
Persons seeking appointment must meet the safety, health, and physical condition standards deemed necessary for performance of duties. - CPR/ACLS
Certifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid CPR card and ACLS card. - State of California Paramedic License:
Must possess and maintain a valid State of California Paramedic License. - ICEMA Certification:
Must obtain ICEMA Paramedic accreditation by the end of the academy, and maintain throughout employment. - Ambulance Driver Taskbook:
Must successfully complete the Taskbook by the end of the academy. - Travel:
Travel within and outside the County may be required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be provided at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment. - Pre-Employment Process:
Applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a thorough background investigation which may include, but is not limited to, DOJ criminal background check, DMV driving record check, military record check, reference checks, and review of prior employment history. Applicants must pass a medical examination and pre‑employment drug test. - Work Location:
Must be willing to work anywhere within San Bernardino County, primarily at County Fire Stations. - Dress Code:
All new employees must adhere to the County Fire Dress Code, which prohibits visible tattoos. - Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform during high stress situations, lift and carry equipment and individuals, and work in a variety of environmental conditions.

EXAMINATIONA proctored computer Medical Skills Assessment based on NREMT will evaluate candidate knowledge and skills in Trauma Assessment and Medical Assessment. Testing will tentatively take place in February. Candidates must pass the assessment to be placed on the eligible list.
