Salary range provided by California Correctional Health Care Services. Actual pay will be based on skills and experience.

Under the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III and the clinical supervision of the Staff Psychiatrist, the Medical Assistant supports psychiatrists in various health care settings.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing patient‑oriented procedures under the clinical direction of a psychiatrist or a valid authorization by a psychiatrist’s order.
• Supporting the mental health care team for daily operations.
• Communicating effectively with patients, psychiatrists, and other health care team members.
• Performing administrative duties and maintaining cost‑effective use of health care resources.
• Addressing ongoing patient needs and collaborating with psychiatrists and other providers.

• Valid certificate from an agency approved by the California Medical Board to practice as a Medical Assistant.
• Agency approval list:
  American Association of Medical Assistants;
  American Medical Certification Association;
  American Medical Technologists;
  California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants;
  Multi‑Skilled Medical Certification Institute, Inc.
• Active certification status prior to appointment.
• Experience in a correctional or similar setting is preferred.

• Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend and up to $5,000 monthly differential during the first year, based on eligibility criteria.
• Referral bonus of $5,000 available for selected candidates who remain employed for 90 days; requires completion of a questionnaire.
• California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and CCHCS employees may receive a referral bonus.
• Payments may reflect the 3% salary reduction under PLP 2025 and include PHL credit details.
