Position Summary
The PTA - Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct rehab care in physical therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
- Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy (ASPT)
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable state. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- One (1) year experience in post‑acute care or a related setting preferred
- CPR certification upon hire and maintained throughout employment
Job Requirements
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e‑mail
- Liaises with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs
- Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, and laws governing post‑acute care facilities
- Implements and interprets department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Performs proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintains professional relationships with all associates and vendors
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Understands and follows company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training
- Follow PT treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising PT
- Chart appropriately and timely
- Utilize therapy software accurately
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
- Assist in patient evacuations
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Apply reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Engage in physical tasks (sit, stand, bend, lift, etc.) throughout working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
