Job Description

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II), you will provide cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with physician orders, department policies, and procedures. You will work under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Manager to ensure sensitive, safe patient care across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, understanding their purpose and possible side effects.
• Perform EKGs, send reports to physicians, and file reports per departmental procedures.
• Apply appropriate techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages.
• Follow the five medication rights and minimize medication errors.
• Provide patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces health care errors.
• Formulate a teaching plan based on patient learning needs and evaluate effectiveness; involve family as appropriate.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy required;
  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two years experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care facility required.
• Must be currently licensed by the State of California as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
• Current CRT certification.
• Current RRT certification.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Affiliation with Respiratory Therapy organizations such as CSCR & AARC preferred.
