The Ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic medical sonographic procedures and studies with a thorough understanding of standard ultrasound examinations. The technologist assists the physician, interprets orders, explains procedures to RNs, patients, and families, and supports Radiology Department operations by processing paperwork, digital imaging and expediting patient transportation.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
- Prepare rooms and equipment for patients, process images, and send them to PACS for interpretation.
- Restock rooms with essential supplies, pick up clean linen, and deliver soiled linen to drop off.
- Conduct QA/QC for X‑ray as necessary.
- Assist non‑technical staff with Radiology Department operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to speak and read English at a level sufficient to perform essential functions.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier) and PC software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e‑mail).
- Proficient computer skills required upon employment or within the first two weeks.
- Follows Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, laws, and standards.
- Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health Medical Group.
- Minimum Education: High School or equivalent; graduate from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program.
- Minimum Experience: 0–6 months.
- Preferred Experience: 6–12 months.
- Required License: ARRT or ARDMS certification or eligible and receive certification within 1 year of employment.
- Required Certification: CPR.
