Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician is a supportive person to the Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Department whose technical duties parallel those of the Pharmacist and are performed under Pharmacist supervision. The Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility in the unit-dose, outpatient, sterile admixture, and floor stock areas under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. Assists the pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use;

mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood; types labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties. Pharmacist supervision does not require continuous observation, however, there must be a final Pharmacist check of all technician work involved in the preparation and/or dispensing of drugs.

Hours: Variable 8 hour shifts. 6am-2:30pm or 1:30pm to 10:00pm

Qualifications

• One (1) year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of certified training program/healthcare career college (preferred)
• Current State of California Pharmacy Technician license (required).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (required).
• Basic computer knowledge (required)
• Knowledge of automated pharmacy systems (preferred).
• IV Laminar Flow Hood experience (preferred).
