Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. The role involves interacting with patients, operating ultrasound machines, and ensuring accurate and clear imaging for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform ultrasound scans across abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular studies as ordered by physicians.
- Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Capture and review images, making adjustments to obtain optimal quality.
- Document patient information, imaging procedures, and relevant details in the medical record.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of ultrasound equipment, reporting malfunctions.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals for accurate diagnostics.
- Provide compassionate care, addressing patient concerns throughout the imaging process.
- Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Ultrasound Technology, or related field. - Certification: ARDMS certification in relevant specialties (e.g., ABD, OB/GYN, RVT) required; state licensure where applicable.
- BLS/CPR certification required.
- Minimum 1-2 years experience as an Ultrasound Technologist preferred.
