DescriptionThe Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) treats patients with mobility, functional, strength, and positioning needs under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA also assists with in‑services and training for facility staff on restorative and functional maintenance programs. Responsibilities include communicating with families, physicians, and other health team members; maintaining accurate documentation; and collaborating with the Licensed PT and Director of Operations.
Responsibilities- Treat patients according to the treatment plan developed under the supervision of the Licensed Physical Therapist.
- Communicate pertinent patient progress, problems, and plans to the PT, patient and/or family, and facility staff.
- Participate in Patient Plan of Care Meetings and Interdisciplinary Team Meetings as requested by the PT.
- Assist in in‑service training programs for other facility staff.
- Record treatment notes, progress notes, provide objective input for discharge summaries, and complete daily billing of services as per policy.
- Instruct patients’ families and/or nursing staff in maintenance programs under PT supervision.
- Participate in discharge planning under PT supervision.
- Achieve or exceed productivity standards established by CRI.
- Recommend necessary equipment to the PT to improve service delivery.
- Report equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
- Serve as a clinical trainer for allied PTA programs at local universities and colleges.
- Comply with all PT Assistant licensure and certification standards.
- Work beyond regular hours as needed for emergencies, weekends, and holidays.
- Consistently portray CRI’s mission, vision, core values, and professional image.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistance.
- Licensed as a Certified Physical Therapist Assistant in the state(s) where services are provided.
Strong relationship and interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, outstanding oral and written communication, problem‑solving, analytical thinking, critical evaluation, technology proficiency, cultural awareness, ethical practice, independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
