Position SummaryPerforms specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab; performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route), and drug test monitoring; reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur; serves as a member of the laboratory client services team; may prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.
Responsibilities- Perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab.
- Collect specimens, conduct phlebotomy (including mobile route), and monitor drug tests.
- Review lab reports and conduct quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems promptly.
- Serve as a member of the laboratory client services team.
- Prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs per written protocols.
- Technical knowledge of laboratory procedures, functions, and processes gained through education, experience, or a combination of the two.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I).
- Proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy.
- Current State of California Driver’s License and access to reliable, personal transportation for commuting to and from multiple off‑site locations.
- Proof of a satisfactory driving record and compliance with the California DMV’s "Pull Notice System."
- Ability to pass an EKG competency test.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload demands.
- Effective working relationships across the Health System.
