Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab; performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route), and drug test monitoring; reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur; serves as a member of the laboratory client services team; may prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.

• Perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab.
• Collect specimens, conduct phlebotomy (including mobile route), and monitor drug tests.
• Review lab reports and conduct quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems promptly.
• Serve as a member of the laboratory client services team.
• Prepare specimens for testing, accessioning, and packaging for dispatch to outside labs per written protocols.

• Technical knowledge of laboratory procedures, functions, and processes gained through education, experience, or a combination of the two.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I).
• Proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy.
• Current State of California Driver’s License and access to reliable, personal transportation for commuting to and from multiple off‑site locations.
• Proof of a satisfactory driving record and compliance with the California DMV’s "Pull Notice System."
• Ability to pass an EKG competency test.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload demands.
• Effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Background investigation and adherence to all conditions of employment listed below.
