Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager 1, the Video Culvert Inspector performs field inspections of culverts and drainage systems throughout the District. The inspector collects inventory and assessment data using remote video equipment, global positioning system (GPS) survey equipment, and hand‑held computers. The inspector works closely with the Maintenance Engineering staff to make recommendations on condition ratings, identify possible deficiencies, and recommend mitigation strategies.

Incumbent shall adhere to all Caltrans policies and directives.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the CALTRANS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR exam. Applicants who do not have current eligibility and/or who are new to state civil services employment must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. The applicant’s minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.

• The position requires a valid Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
