ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of Supervisor I, in the Planning, Monitoring, and Data Section (PMDS), the Analyst II performs a variety of functions to carry out the mission of the California Department of Aging (CDA) and provide oversight to California’s Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). The Analyst will:
- work in a team environment and collaborate with CDA teams and support staff
- share leadership for team responsibilities including technical assistance, monitoring, information dissemination and training
- participate in collaboration and coordination on issue identification and resolution
- participate in team decision-making, strategy formulation, and problem resolution
- apply high-level analytic and effective communication skills and broad knowledge of programs for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers
Minimum Requirements
- Analyst II
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Placement to alternate range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.

Working ConditionsThe physical work location is the department’s headquarters in Natomas. Duties require sitting for long periods, using a computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings (digital or in person).
TravelStatewide travel may be required up to 25%.
Desirable QualificationsIn addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, the following factors provide the basis for competitive evaluation:
- Knowledge and experience of federal and state regulations related to aging services and program oversight
- Experience with creating data reports and/or monitoring
- Experience with preparing monitoring reports and corrective-action recommendations
- Ability to work independently under deadlines, initiative, tact, and good judgment
- Effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to analyze data and assess program effectiveness, contractor performance, and adherence to project goals
- Attention to detail in reviewing contracts and program documents for accuracy and regulatory adherence
- Ability to identify issues and proactively develop solutions in a fast-paced, regulated environment
