We are seeking an experienced policy leader to serve as Manager of the Licensing Policy Section within the Licensing Policy Branch (LPB). Reporting to the LPB Branch Chief (CEA

B), this role provides strategic and operational leadership over statewide policies related to non-commercial driver licensing, driver safety, financial responsibility, and federal compliance initiatives.

This is a high-impact management position for a leader who thrives at the intersection of policy, people management, and cross-agency collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of the Licensing Policy Section and its subordinate units
  • Direct statewide policy development for non-commercial driver licensing, driver safety, financial responsibility, and federal compliance initiatives
  • Coordinate policy efforts across departmental divisions, external agencies, and industry stakeholders
  • Lead multiple major legislative and policy initiatives, serving as the decision authority on complex and sensitive issues
  • Through subordinate managers, plan, assign, and evaluate staff work; set priorities and ensure program goals are met
  • Manage personnel functions including hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Prepare and approve personnel and administrative documentation, including duty statements and justification memorandums

Statement of Qualifications
  • Describe your experience with the development and implementation of policies related to pre- and post-driver licensing and the issuance of identification cards.
  • Describe your experience with the legislative and regulatory processes; and your demonstrated ability to provide guidance to staff in the formulation, interpretation and implementation of statutory and regulatory language.
