This position may be headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, CA or Van Nuys, CA and may be eligible for telework under EDD’s telework policy. Employees are required to reside in California to telecommute and may need to report to the headquarters office as required.

The Associate Tax Auditor conducts and reviews the more complex field audits/investigations of businesses and organizations suspected of intentionally operating in the underground economy, for the purpose of upholding the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC) and California tax regulations.

Duties include:

• Conducting on‑site inspections of non‑compliant businesses as part of the Joint Enforcement Strike Force (JESF) program.
• Presenting and communicating information, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external customers, individually or in group settings.
• Representing the Department at hearings.
• Developing and forwarding lead referrals to Area Audit Offices or Investigation Division for appropriate action.
