Job Summary

The Environmental Planner supports Cal OES recovery operations by coordinating environmental and historical issues for public assistance projects. The role follows the Recovery Directorate’s mission to recover and mitigate environmental impacts after disasters.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Senior Environmental Planner and Recovery Engineers to review pending grant awards for compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Conduct technical and administrative planning, including analysis and recommendations to mitigate environmental impacts.
  • Assist in resolving complex environmental issues related to disaster recovery.
  • Design and deliver training to Cal OES staff and subrecipients on environmental compliance and recovery procedures.
  • Travel statewide, including overnight stays, for field/site visits and environmental assessments.
  • Work as part of a 12‑month Limited‑Term position subject to extension or conversion to permanent.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications detailed in the ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER Class Specification. Preference is given to candidates eligible for SROA or Surplus.

Working Conditions

Hybrid telework is available. A valid driver’s license is required for the DMV Pull Program.
