Location: California
* Deliver prompt, courteous service to Tribal members, team members, and the public.
* Conduct public presentations and fire safety education for various community groups.
* Perform safety briefings for employees, contractors, and citizens.
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
* Completion of 20 semester units of college-level courses in Fire Science, Emergency Management or a closely related field preferred.
* Minimum two (2) years of journey-level experience within the last four (4) years performing fire and life safety inspections of industrial, commercial, institutional, hospital, educational, residential and public assembly facilities; OR one (1) year experience at or equivalent to the level of Fire Prevention Officer in a City, State, Federal, Tribal or local government required.
* Conduct fire safety inspections, surveys and public education initiatives.
* Enforce fire prevention codes and ordinances (municipal, state, federal and Tribal).
* Review building plans and construction compliance with CBC, CFC, NFPA and other standards.
* Asses water supply systems for fire protection adequacy.
* Monitor and advise on hazardous materials storage and handling.
* Maintain fire alarm systems and oversee fire drill procedures.
* Utilize modern office systems and software for documentation and reporting.
* Support community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) development, including the San Manuel CWPP.
* Deliver public presentations and engage in community outreach.
* Conduct inspections and identify fire/life safety hazards.
* Analyze facilities and recommend effective fire and life safety measures.
* Determine life safety deficiencies and initiate appropriate corrective action.
* Research and apply laws, ordinances and regulations to situations of potential fire and life hazards.
* Plan and direct public fire prevention education program.
* Read, understand and apply difficult materials.
* Write clear reports and maintain accurate records.
* Interpret and enforce codes with consistency and tact.
* Direct and train others.
* Perform calculations, measurements and appraisals.
* Work independently, manage workloads, and exercise sounds judgement.
* Maintain professional appearance and follow instructions.
* Communicate effectively and build strong relationships.
* ** Environmental Safety*
* -Demonstrates pride in the entire facility by maintaining a clean, safe work environment for guests and co-workers.  Consistently demonstrates personal ownership for cleanliness and maintaining exceptional housekeeping standards within the department, facility and all Tribal owned properties.  Consistently demonstrates concern for personal safety and the safety of guests, vendors and other team members by immediately addressing or reporting all unsafe acts and/or conditions.
* OSFM Fire Inspector 1A course completion certificate
* OSFM Fire Inspector 1B course completion certificate
* OSFM Fire Inspector 1C course completion certificate
* OSFM Fire Inspector 1D course completion certificate
* Certified as an OSFM Fire Inspector I within one year of employment in this position
* Current AHA CPR Healthcare Provider or equivalent
* Certification or progress towards certification as an OSFM Fire Inspector II
* Certification or progress towards certification as an OSFM Plan Examiner
* Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
* Certification as a Firefighter I or II and suitability to serve in a “safety” capacity (to include respiratory protection plan requirements, work capacity test completion, etc.)
* Certification or progress towards certification as an OSFM Fire & Life Safety Educator
* Certification or progress towards certification as an OSFM Fire Investigator I
* Primary work environment is in a variety of settings. Work indoors and out in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, smoke, fumes, odors, vibrations, loud noises, hazardous materials, and noxious gases.
* Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
* Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
