Job Summary

VS&Co is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Tax Analyst to join the finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that VS&Co remains compliant with its sales tax obligations and all applicable state, local, and foreign tax laws and regulations (including preparing and filing sales tax returns and providing support during audits) while also assisting with process improvements to streamline recurring calculations.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the U.S. tax team. The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of indirect tax including Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), sales and use tax, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal oversight.

Proficiency in tax tools and software like Vertex and Avalara is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Support the U.S. tax team by analyzing and organizing relevant information to support tax filing positions and responding to audits.
  • Document and organize state and local indirect tax audit work papers and maintain the appropriate indirect tax records according to department policies.
  • Assist in preparing accurate indirect tax return filings.
  • Keep the U.S.

    -based manager informed of project status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Compile and analyze data, records, and other documentation needed to satisfy U.S. tax audit requests and ensure compliance.
  • Research and analyze U.S. state & local tax laws and regulations to determine applicability and provide recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or related discipline required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably with exposure to U.S. sales tax.
  • Proven ability to communicate analytic findings in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders in different time zones.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and experience using tax research tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, ETL tools (e.g., Alteryx and UiPath), or SAP Business Objects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • CMI‑Sales Tax, CPA, or equivalent required.
  • Understand the differences between GAAP and sales tax treatments of various business transactions preferred.
  • Experience using Vertex® Indirect Tax O Series® and Avalara tax compliance tax solutions preferred.
