We are currently searching for a Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager to join our team in the Emerging Middle Market. The main responsibility of this role is to evaluate the risk level of our commercial transactions and make well‑informed decisions based on our company's guidelines and standards. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge in commercial loans and be able to effectively manage a portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates all financial statements for credit worthiness and summarizes results.
  • Identifies credit strengths, weaknesses and industry risks; determines loan covenant requirements.
  • Collaborates with Relationship Managers on decision reasoning and resolves potential problem loans.
  • Prepares comprehensive credit summary with Relationship and Credit Managers.
  • Supports portfolio management by addressing covenant violations and identifying opportunities.
  • Performs financial analysis, assesses creditworthiness and prepares detailed credit summaries.
  • Utilizes financial models to recommend loan structures and collateral.
  • Supports credit‑granting decisions and portfolio monitoring for new and existing Commercial banking loans.
  • Analyzes metrics, industry trends and spot risks and opportunities.
  • Structures and supports new, renewal and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank risk policies.
  • Monitors portfolio performance and takes corrective action when required.
  • Minimizes risk exposure by adhering to credit policies and regulatory standards.
  • Serves as contact for service requests and escalates issues when needed.
  • Supports initiatives to enhance service quality and expand client relationships.
  • Identifies revenue, cross‑selling and share of wallet opportunities.
  • Leverages analysis tools to nurture portfolio growth.
  • Manages accurate data entry into BMO systems and supports decision‑making.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently on complex tasks and may take on broader responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Preferred 3‑4 years of relevant experience in credit or lending instruments or financial operations in a corporate or banking environment.
  • If a Credit Qualifiable job, credit qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards.
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
