A Day In The Life:
We are seeking an experienced Derivatives Compliance and Market Conduct professional. Reporting to the Director, Derivatives Compliance & Market Conduct Officer, the role provides expert advisory, manages critical exchange/clearing compliance, and oversees market surveillance across all international regulatory regimes, ensuring adherence to global best practices and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead derivatives compliance advisory, ensuring robust adherence to global regimes including EMIR, MiFID II, MAR, FMIA, MAS, and US Dodd-Frank (CFTC Parts 38, 43, 45, 150, 151, 155).
  • Provide expert guidance on evolving global regulations, advise on complex documentation/trading agreements, and act as the central contact for global traders, exchanges, and regulators.
  • Oversee exchange-traded derivatives and clearing operations, leveraging deep understanding of CFTC Part 39 (DCOs) and direct access for non-FCM clearing members; ensure DCO rule adherence.
  • Coordinate compliance activities across major global exchanges (e.g., CME, ICE, Matif Euronext, EEX, key Asian exchanges), including rule interpretations.
  • Manage position limits and aggregation rules (CFTC Parts 150 & 151), and lead hedge exemption applications to global regulators (e.g., CFTC, CME).
  • Ensure strict compliance with clearing member obligations (accounts structures, risk management, trade execution, clearing/settling, record-keeping, financial reporting).
  • Design and conduct daily trade surveillance to prevent/detect prohibited practices and market abuse across global derivatives markets.
  • Ensure continuous adherence to global laws/exchange rules, adapting the program based on monitoring global regulatory actions and legislative changes.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive global compliance training for traders and personnel.
  • Act as subject matter expert on global cross-functional projects.
  • Maintain/enhance global compliance databases, record-keeping, and regulatory filings; supervise all trade repository reporting (e.g. EMIR, CFTC Parts 43 & 45).
Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of experience in derivatives compliance and market conduct within a commodity firm, exchange, global financial institution or regulatory agency with strong focus on compliance advisory, FCM clearing, market surveillance and global regulatory regimes.
  • Deep and comprehensive knowledge of global derivatives regulations, including EMIR, MiFID II, MAR, FMIA, MAS, Dodd-Frank, and specific CFTC rules.
  • Extensive knowledge of the rules, structures, and operations of major global derivatives exchanges and clearing organizations.
  • University degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Fluent in English; multilingual a plus.
  • Knowledge of Validus, Bloomberg Regulatory Hub or similar compliance systems is a plus.
