Mortgage Loan Underwriter

Legacy Mutual Mortgage is an outstanding full service residential mortgage lender originating, underwriting and closing conventional, jumbo, FHA, VA and USDA mortgage loans. • Responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans in accordance with FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, FHLMC, and private investor guidelines while ensuring compliance with company and investor standards.
• Conduct thorough reviews of income and asset documentation.
• Make timely and accurate underwriting decisions while using DU/LPA/GUS/Total Score Card , or manual underwriting guidelines.
• Clearly communicate underwriting guidelines and corporate underwriting policies to team members.
• Interact and contribute in a team setting.
• Properly interpret complex personal and business financial documents, including personal and business tax returns.
• Provide basic underwriting training to team members to create a better understanding of the Underwriter’s responsibilities.
• Must maintain regular attendance.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of five (5) years of in-depth knowledge and experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
• Valid FHA DE/CHUMS , preferred.
• SAR, LAPP and VA Automatic, preferred.
• Proficiency with DU, LP, Total Scorecard and GUS, required.
• Must have working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
• Must have experience using a mortgage-based system to assist in underwriting loans. Experience with Ellie Mae Encompass, preferred.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and require minimal supervision.
• Must have demonstrated organizational skills.
