We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Assistant Director to join our Field Audit Income Division!This is a promotional posting open only to current permanent classified employees of the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

Eligibility and Experience
  • Eight years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • An advanced degree or Juris Doctorate plus four years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.

Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

Job Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Direct and coordinate all audits for taxes assigned to the division.
  • Assist the Revenue Tax Director with establishing and implementing goals and priorities for the division that are consistent with advancing the Department’s overall mission and vision.
  • Ensure that audits are assigned to auditors based on the auditor’s technical experience, knowledge of industry, and workload.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of audit assignments to minimize downtime incurred by the audit staff.
  • Consult with Policy Services Division personnel to resolve problems encountered by auditors and answer technical tax statute and/or audit‑related questions to assist in the efficient completion of audits.
Position‑Specific Details

Appointment Type:
Promotional open encuentages the UA true to current permanent classified employeess of the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions available within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.

LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
