Senior Communications Strategist (Contract) - Treyarch (Los Angeles)
Developing games since 1996, Treyarch is home to some of the industry's most creative video game development talent, as well as a culture that possesses a deep love of games and a player-first mentality. We’re looking for a Senior Communications Strategist who can help us take our passion for our community of players to the next level.
This role will be instrumental in forging an even deeper relationship with our global community, including day-to-day social content creation across our platforms to support the studio’s overall player-first comms strategy.
We're looking for someone who understands the game development process and has a proven track record of success in social media strategy and content creation, community management, and sentiment analytics/reporting. This person will also possess the ability to manage multiple projects against often demanding deadlines.
Please note that this is a contingent worker position and will be staffed through Volt, a staffing and workforce management company.
This role is a hybrid onsite work position, and the home studio for this role is in Los Angeles, CA.
What you’ll do…- Ideate, create, and help execute campaigns across our spectrum of digital and social platforms to inform, engage, and grow our community of players. In the realm of social media and community management, you will have a great deal of latitude to bring new ideas to the table.
- Social copywriting with our players top-of-mind. You will develop content to inform and entertain our community on behalf of the studio and its games on social, as well as in blog posts co-authored with the Call of Duty Editorial team.
- Serve in a highly collaborative role, helping to bridge development and comms/marketing audiences across a variety of internal channels.
- Work with our Studio Comms, Live Ops, Digital, PR, Brand, Social, and Analytics teams on game comms initiatives.
- Assist with the creation of key messaging and FAQs.
- Serve as an active participant in our monitoring/analytics activities, helping to contribute to our greater understanding of community needs. Additionally, your work will help contribute to routine monitoring and reporting activities currently handled across the Studio Comms team.
- Work directly with members of the Studio Communications team and the development team to prioritize and collect the information needed to keep the community informed.
- Travel, especially in years with actively shipping Treyarch titles. Additionally, there will be the need to work flexible hours.
- A Strategic, Subject-Matter Expert: You possess a deep understanding of social media tools and platforms, and how to leverage them to cultivate a well-informed community. You understand how to pick the right kinds of conversations that drive the most impact – you see the bigger picture and know what makes a difference.
- A Passion for Communications : You are a student of best practices, always learning and looking to raise the bar. You love telling stories across different types of platforms in ways that surprise and delight players.
- A Multi-tasker: Working in the studio environment demands the need to be proactive and self-motivated in a team-focused environment. You excel at working individually or in a team environment, while balancing simultaneous projects.
- A Collaborator: You know the inner-workings of how communications teams work and how the dev environment functions, enabling you to make sense of who you’d need to work with to achieve a desired outcome. You’re also driven by the need to be accurate, honest, and transparent.
- A Player at Heart: Knowledge of Call of Duty and Treyarch games is expected, but like us, you love playing all types of games. Of course, deep franchise knowledge is a huge plus.
- 8+ years of experience in communications roles as a Community Manager, Social Strategist, or Social Media Manager, with at least several in gaming.
- A Bachelor’s degree in communications, media studies, and/or journalism.
- Web, forum, and/or blogging experience a plus.
