Manager, Music Rights – NBCUniversal
Join NBCUniversal’s Music Business & Legal Affairs team as a Manager, Music Rights, responsible for overseeing music clearance and licensing functions across NBCUniversal’s television programming platforms.
Role PurposeThe Manager, Music Rights will manage the operations and administrative services related to comprehensive music clearance and licensing for NBCUniversal, including Universal Television Entertainment, USG, NBC Entertainment, Bravo, and Peacock. The position focuses solely on music licensing and does not involve music creative or supervision.
Responsibilities- Draft, negotiate, review and track music licenses and other music agreements.
- Advise internal clients on intellectual property, copyright, clearance, rights‑related and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate budgeting, invoices, payroll, union obligations and related deliverables.
- Process quote requests, pick‑up letters, master use and synchronization licenses, payments, vendor set‑ups, and other licensing matters across productions.
- Research music details for clearance and tracking, includingſ publishers, record labels and performing rights societies.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards for music use.
- Collaborate on technology solutions to support internal clients.
- Edit tracking grids, cost charts, databases and other systems for all music usage and licensing.
- Review, analyze, revise, and submit cue sheets.
- Administer union inquiries (e.g., AFM, SAG‑AFTRA) and generate reports.
- Maintain relationships with internal partners, publishers, labels, music libraries, and vendors.
- Implement best practices with clients and colleagues.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of music licensing and/or clearance experience.
- Understanding of copyright rules related to the music industry.
- Knowledge of contemporary and classical music catalogs and publishing companies.
- Established relationships with major publishing companies, record labels and music libraries.
- Tech‑savvy, comfortable with cloud‑based documents, databases, Microsoft 365, contract management systems and music clearance tools such as Qwire, Synch Tank and Sound Mouse.
- Self‑starter with strong project execution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients amid competing deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and client‑service orientation.
- Experience mentoring junior staff (plus).
- Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA. Travel may be required.
- Flexible hours, evenings and holidays as needed.
This hybrid role requires office presence minimum three days per week, increasing to four days per week from January 5, 2026. The company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements.

Salary Range$75,000 – $95,000 per year ( derzeit bonus eligible).
