Under the direction and supervision of a Senior Transportation Surveyor or Transportation Surveyor, Range D, the Transportation Engineering Technician performs activities requiring basic surveying knowledge and skills for the preparation of maps, estimates, written documents, and other related work for surveying projects.
The incumbent will perform Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) delineation for the preparation of various types of survey and right-of-way engineering mapping including topographic maps, base maps, acquisition (right-of-way) maps, monumentation maps, exhibit maps, and resolution of necessity plats at the direction of the Transportation Surveyor or lead person using current Survey/Right of Way Engineering mapping standards.

Working ConditionsLocation:
1111-1 Myrtle Ave., Eureka, Humboldt County.
This position may be eligible for telework. Telework options are at the Department’s discretion and based on Caltrans policy. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. The selected candidate must be able to report to the worksite as needed. Business travel may be required; reimbursement is based on the headquarters location and applicable regulations. All commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.

Salary NotesSalary ranges shown: $3,951.00 - $4,949.00 (A), $4,695.00 - $5,876.00 (B), $5,644.00 - $7,063.00 (C). New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum of the classification or alternate range when applicable.
Other Information- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
