The City of Maryland Heights, Missouri was incorporated in May 1985. Located in northwest St. Louis County, the City has a population of 27,400, increasing during the day to over 100,000, as a result of its major concentration of businesses, offices, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
The InternshipThis program is for a student who is interested in a professional career in Civil Engineering. The Engineering Intern’s duties and responsibilities will include inspecting street pavement to collect pavement condition data and entering this data into the pavement assessment program. The intern will have the opportunity to observe the construction of capital projects, including street slab replacement, sidewalk construction, asphalt overlay, and stormwater improvements.
Tours of a variety of public works facilities and attendance at staff meetings and professional meetings will also be a part of the assignment.
Intern compensation will be $15.00 per hour and lasts approximately 10 weeks. No benefits will be provided other than training.
QualificationsApplicants should be in one of the following disciplines:
Civil Engineering, Engineering or Construction Management, or a similar field. GIS skills and familiarity with Microsoft software including Word and Excel is a plus.
A valid state driver’s license is required, Class
F.
