Field Service Engineer – Switchgear (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
LocationNetherlands field based – Most of the work is in the Amsterdam region, on occasion you may need to travel to other parts of the Netherlands.
ScheduleFull-time, with participation in on-call rotation as defined locally.

AboutThe Role
Vertiv is hiring a Field Service Engineer – Switchgear to join our team in the Netherlands. Following Vertiv's acquisition of the successful E&I Switchgear business, we are integrating Switchgear Service offerings to meet growing customer demands for installation and servicing.
In this role, you will deliver high‑quality installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repairs on LV and MV switch gear panels and protection devices across multiple projects for customers in the region.
You will be the face of Vertiv on‑site, ensuring project milestones are met, safe working practices followed, and excellent customer service delivered.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver and manage installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair of LV and MV switch gear systems on multiple projects.
- Investigate and resolve site issues and breakdowns efficiently.
- Prepare tools, test equipment, and documentation for site activities.
- Liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors, internal teams, and procurement to ensure project progress and material availability.
- Manage site safety and relevant HSE compliance.
- Maintain accurate site documentation and complete client sign‑offs.
- Participate fully in on‑call rotation and travel as required.
- Minimum 3+ years site/client‑facing experience with LV/MV switch gear or related electrical systems.
- Recognised engineering qualification and electrical trade background an advantage.
- Skilled in electrical panel testing, fault finding, and primary/secondary injection testing.
- Good knowledge of safe isolation, electrical safety, control and protection systems.
- Experience with client Factory and Site Acceptance Tests.
- Strong communication skills and professional client‑facing attitude.
- Valid driving licence and flexibility to work additional hours.
- Proficient in PC software and interpreting electrical drawings.
- A safety‑first mindset and commitment to quality.
This is a site‑based role with travel across customer locations in the region. Training, modern tools, and support are provided within a safety‑focused, collaborative team.
