Position Summary
This position supports the airline in‑service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for quality justifications from a static stress point of view in a timely manner. Duties include performing complex static analysis for both metallic and non‑metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and fatigue colleagues to provide repair solutions. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs).
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales.
- Autonomously perform complex analyses to verify that structural integrity requirements been. Team assignments may include detail part sizing, layout maturation, trade study analysis, weight reduction efforts, certification activity, or in‑service support.
- Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign‑out for airframe structure.
- Mentor less experienced Static Stress Engineers in all types of metallic and/or non‑metallic structural repairs.
- Liaise with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Regent departments to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer.
- Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.
- Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
- Ensure all tasks and activities are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales.
- Provide responses to complex repair queries by giving guidance as required within Regent Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner.
- Together with other Repair Design and Fatigue Engineers, be a member of an integrated engineering team, ensuring its strategy, policy and direction is maintained.
- Obtain and utilize technical signatory to sign off repair data.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials is required. A Minor in Computer Science is a plus.
- Internship in the aerospace engineering field with airframe analysis experience is a plus.
- 6 to 13+ years total structure analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs. MRO/Fleet Engineering experience is preferred.
- MRB experience is a plus.
- Position requires knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods.
- Capable of working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment both independently and collectively.
- Experience in airframe design (metallic & composites), F&DT, SRM, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part
25, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, and PATRAN, is desired. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, required.
- Team player demonstrating a positive & collaborative attitude.
- Good social skills, flexibility and adaptability.
- Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures preferred.
- Knowledge of Airbus stress/fatigue manuals and tools preferred.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to code in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages is desirable.
- Proven ability and behaviors to work towards Technical Signatory.
- Must understand, read and write proficiently in the English language to read and understand appropriate manuals, schematics, and technical information necessary to adequately perform duties.
- Conversational in French and/or German is a plus, but not required.
