Role Summary

The UAV Avionics Assembler IV serves as the technical and process leader for avionics assembly operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency across production builds. Tasks and responsibilities expected for this role include those captured by lower role specific levels.

This role involves working closely with engineers, production technicians, and operations teams to support multiple programs and value streams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead avionics assembly execution for a product line, program, or production cell.
  • Own assembly sequencing, build standards, and workmanship consistency.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineering on tooling, fixtures, and work instruction development.
  • Support production readiness reviews, rate increases, and design transitions.
  • Lead workmanship investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Train, coach, and support the avionics assembly team of all levels.
  • Serve as a key interface between production, quality, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities (Level III)
  • Build complex avionics assemblies and high‑density wiring harnesses with minimal supervision.
  • Execute first‑article, prototype, or low‑rate initial production builds.
  • Interpret incomplete or ambiguous documentation and work with engineering to resolve issues.
  • Perform detailed inspections and advanced continuity and isolation testing.
  • Support root cause investigations related to assembly workmanship.
  • Mentor and train Avionics Assembler I–II personnel.
  • Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly process improvements.
Responsibilities (Level II)
  • Assemble avionics components, electromechanical assemblies, and wiring harnesses from engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Perform wire terminations, connector installations, and harness routing to specification.
  • Conduct continuity checks and basic functional testing.
  • Identify and elevate non‑conformances and workmanship issues.
  • Maintain accurate as‑built documentation and material traceability via MES.
  • Adhere to AS9100, FAA, and internal quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing engineering to resolve discrepancies.
Responsibilities (Level I)
  • Assemble basic avionics components and sub‑assemblies following work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Perform wire preparation tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, and labeling.
  • Assist with routing, dressing, and securing wiring in accordance with defined standards.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify obvious defects or workmanship issues.
  • Use basic hand tools and test equipment such as multimeters under supervision.
  • Accurately complete assembly work instructions and production documentation.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
  • Support senior assemblers and technicians as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) or technical degree with extensive aerospace experience.
  • 7+ years of avionics or high‑reliability electronics assembly experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership without formal people management.
  • Deep understanding of aerospace quality systems and production risk.
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC 610 certification
  • IPC 620 Certification

Pay range for this role: $32 USD - $37 USD
