Description
Alliance Water Resources is a growing water and wastewater contract operations company with an open Operator I position in the Hazelwood, MO area.
Shifts are 12hr with alternating weekends and nights.
This is a technical position that engages in a variety of activities to wastewater systems, and customer service. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Local Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Performs the operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment including wastewater treatment facility related equipment.
- Provides assistance to contractors and local utilities as needed; performs plan reviews and coordinates with consulting engineers as required.
- May provide on-site project management, installing equipment, and conducting testing programs.
- Assists in responding to client, customer, or agency complaints or inquiries; recommends improvements to eliminate problems.
- Performs inspections on plant operations and activities including equipment, maintenance, and safety related issues; recommends replacements and specifications for new equipment; orders materials and equipment within appropriate authority.
- Performs prevention programs and maintains related records.
- Communicates with clients, staff, customers, contractors/developers, and employees regarding customer service requests, and general wastewater system issues.
- Investigates and takes appropriate action in response to complaints.
- Participates in related professional association activities; stays knowledgeable of new developments in materials, equipment and processes to ensure effective and efficient operation of the systems.
- Assists in facility tours; maintains positive relationships with co-workers, clients, customers, and vendors.
- Develops and implements SOPs and Emergency Response Plans.
- Reviews and maintains inventory of materials according to set procedures; authorizes the purchasing of materials within authority limits.
- Assures proper safety standards and precautions are followed and that all safety equipment is available and in good working condition according to company policy and equipment manual.
- Prepares reports and maintains records to meet federal, state, local, and company requirements.
- High School Graduate
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Preferred: Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate
- Progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of wastewater systems
- Knowledge of proper and effective practices, methods, and procedures related to wastewater system maintenance and construction.
- Knowledge of state and federal standards and regulations governing wastewater facilities and systems. Knowledge of basic principles of mechanical and hydraulic theory.
- Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of motorized equipment and hand/power tools.
- Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and evaluate the work of staff.
- Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to resolve problems in stressful conditions using sound judgment.
- Ability to operate computers and related programs.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laboratory and statistical data.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions; walk across rough terrain; climb stairs and vertical ladders.
- Ability to move, lift, and/or manipulate equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Work in confined spaces, bend, stoop and twist as necessary
