We are currently hiring a Lead Project Extrusion Engineer to support our US operations, including the City of Industry facility, as well as Tekni Plex’s global sites.

Job Summary

This role will provide technical expertise as a project lead for the custom medical tubing extrusion departments at multiple Tekni facilities, with a focus on new program start‑up runs and process improvement. This position will support major tubing projects from training operations to specifying, sourcing and implementing new equipment at multiple locations. This is a multifaceted hands‑on role involving process development and improvement with a wide range of materials, tube configurations and dimensional requirements.

This role also provides technical support to the inside sales team regarding extrusion requirements for new product development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as a project lead for multiple tubing projects from new product implementation, new equipment acquisition, product transfers and operational excellence projects.
  • Support design, specification, acquisition and implementation of new processing equipment at multiple tubing locations.
  • Process development, improvement, support and documentation for the custom tubing extrusion departments.
  • Support extrusion operators for daily customer runs as expertise is needed to develop operational competency.
  • Design, document, procure and qualify tooling for extrusion runs.
  • Specify, qualify, develop processes and provide on‑going support for new equipment.
  • Support the inside sales team with quotation and other customer activities as required.
  • Assist in the scheduling of production and prototype extrusion efforts.
  • General support for all manufacturing and development activity.
  • Develop procedures and operator training for new process as developed.
  • Lead the development of new material processes, including FEP and PEEK.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
  • Supervise Extrusion Operators.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with production related documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
  • Travel as needed to other Tekni‑Plex facilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years polymer extrusion experience. Thermoplastic tube extrusion experience preferred.
  • Previous work in a production environment with hands‑on contribution.
  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering field preferred.
  • Previous experience training and developing others is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.

Salary $108,000 to $162,368 depending on experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete timecards and work orders. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
