Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Associate Engineer to join our Federal Engineering and Design Team. In this role, you will assist with the design efforts for federal projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout. You will coordinate with experienced engineers and designers, gaining exposure to federal standards such as UFC, DoD, and VA requirements, and enhance your skills in design and modeling software.
This position offers hands‑on experience and the chance to contribute meaningful work to Olsson’s federal portfolio.
- Provide small‑scale design elements for federal engineering projects using standard techniques and established methods.
- Perform basic plan production and technical tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop and apply knowledge and experience in designing and modeling software for engineering solutions.
- Assist with project schedules, engineering calculations, and preparation of construction documents.
- Gather research, recommend solutions, and create drafts of technical reports.
- Gain experience with creating and maintaining project and client information within the firm’s project management system.
- May travel and work in various terrains and weather conditions at project sites in different stages of construction.
- A minimum of one year of engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field.
- Possesses Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification.
- Working knowledge (or ability to become proficient) in relevant technologies such as Civil 3D.
- Ability to contribute and work well with a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in field conditions as needed.
