Technical Maintenance Engineer Public Transport

Are you a technical professional with a sharp eye for safety and reliability? In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining modern vehicles used in public transport. From scheduled inspections to urgent breakdowns — you ensure everything keeps running smoothly, whether on the road, rail, or water. A meaningful job with technical challenges and plenty of variety.

Choose the type of vehicle that suits your interests and experience:

Maintain electric and hybrid vehicles used in daily city operations. You’ll work from a centrally located workshop and respond to on-site issues when necessary.

Work on modern rail vehicles in a highly technical and safety-regulated environment. This includes complex systems like drive technology, braking systems, sensors, and safety equipment.

Maintain modern ferries or passenger boats with both traditional and electric propulsion. You’ll handle propulsion, steering, and onboard electrical systems.

As a maintenance engineer, you’ll independently carry out technical work on public transport vehicles, including:

• Performing scheduled maintenance based on established protocols
• Repairing components or systems that frequently malfunction
• Diagnosing issues reported on-site or in the workshop
• Making autonomous decisions within technical guidelines

• You currently work as a car mechanic, electrician, or service technician and are ready for your next career step

• You have an MBO level 3 diploma (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
• A few years of experience in technical maintenance or vehicle engineering
• A valid B-class driver’s license (C-class is a plus — training can be provided)
• You’re independent, solution-oriented, and quality-driven
• You have a good command of English

• Monthly gross salary between €2,450 and €3,550 (based on a 36-hour week), depending on experience
