This opportunity is for our Electric Heat business. Electric Heat is a trusted leader in electric heating and ventilation solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Backed by the strength of ASPEQ Heating Group and Marley Engineered Products, we offer a wide range of standard and customized products through leading brands like QMark, Indeeco, Berko, and Brasch.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing electric heating systems and related products that meet high standards of performance, quality, and safety. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver efficient, innovative engineering solutions that support customer needs and organizational goals.
This role also includes supporting product development lifecycle activities and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Design, develop, and test electric heating systems and components
- Prepare mechanical drawings and wiring schematics for electric heating products
- Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and manufacturing instructions
- Ensure designs meet relevant safety and regulatory standards, including UL, CSA, and ETL
- Collaborate with R&D on design improvements and new product/process development
- Manage and document engineering changes throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide technical support to the sales team for customer quote preparation
- Partner with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers to develop and optimize manufacturing processes
- Support cross‑functional teams in resolving design or production challenges
- Apply principles of design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Support process improvements for new and existing products
- Identify opportunities to enhance design efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and quality
- Assist in evaluating new technologies, materials, or methods to support engineering advancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, CNC punching)
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and project‑management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities with experience in cross‑functional collaboration
- Experience working with electric heating products
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance standards (UL, CSA, ETL)
- Experience participating in engineering change processes and documentation
- Prior involvement in process improvement or R&D projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Onsite
- Office and manufacturing plant environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed for component handling or testing
