About This RoleThe Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for maintenance actions on ATAC aircraft and for safe, expeditious launch and recovery flight line operations at permanent and detachment sites.
Responsibilities- Maintenance efforts in support of company commitments
- Proficient in one type/model aircraft and helper on additional type/model aircraft
- Utilize AMS program
- Training of maintenance personnel
- Manage assigned maintenance programs
- Assist with coordination of detachment requirements with Crew Chiefs (as necessary)
- Obtain and maintain Detachment Lead qualification
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components
- Perform 100‑hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and accessories; perform preflight, thru‑flight and post‑flight maintenance inspections
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals
- Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects
- Additional responsibilities as delineated by Production Supervisor and Crew Chiefs
- Manage programs as assigned
- Safety of the workforce
- Ensure quality maintenance during each action
- Development and training of Apprentice Aviation Mechanics
- Foster maintenance team environment

- Minimum requirements include an A&P certification or at least 5 years of military aircraft maintenance equivalency
- Unsupervised complex maintenance capability; holds or has held QAR, engine turn, or advanced troubleshooting qualification; capable of managing collateral programs, training junior mechanics, and using specialized tooling or test equipment
- Performance monitored by supervision and reviewed annually
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb in and out of the aircraft, and stand for long periods
