Fire Alarm Designer

Responsibilities

• Design and layout fire alarm systems using AutoCAD or Revit software.
• Prepare design drawings, riser diagrams, and system schematics based on project requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA 72, NEC, and local jurisdiction codes.
• Review bid documents, specifications, and plans to develop accurate material lists and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and AHJs during plan reviews and approvals.
• Prepare submittal packages for client and jurisdictional review.
• Update and maintain as-built drawings following installation.
• Support project managers and field technicians with technical design information as needed.
• Assist in the selection of equipment and devices based on project scope.
• Stay current with code updates, product innovations, and design standards.

• 2+ years of experience in fire alarm system design (commercial or industrial).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit or BIM software is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and IBC/IFC codes.
• NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
• Familiarity with systems from major manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, EST, Siemens, Gamewell, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
